Tthe Natchez Historical Society, organized in 1954, is open to the public and dedicated to the historical study of Natchez, Mississippi and surrounding area. Local history spans an exceptionally long timeline from Grand Village of the Natchez Indians to present day city atop bluffs of the Father of Waters, the mighty Mississippi River. Contributions of Native Americans, African-Americans, and European settlers combined to form a rich local tapestry for the understanding of the larger regional and national historical record.
